Behr Paints Rolls Out Premium Plus Ultra Stain-Blocking Ceiling Paint

Spatter and drip-resistant paint and primer in one simplifies painting a ceiling

BEHR Paints Story Entry
Santa Ana, Calif.
Behr Paints introduces a new addition to the company’s Premium Plus Ultra® interior paint and primer in one line-up that makes painting ceilings quicker and easier.  BEHR Premium Plus Ultra® Stain-Blocking Ceiling Paint features NANOGUARD® technology and is specially formulated to block most household and water stains, a common homeowner predicament.  When dry, it forms an extra protective shell that resists moisture, stains and mildew, creating a STAYS LOOKING NEW LONGER® finish.  The flat sheen minimizes surface imperfections and provides a uniform appearance.
“Painting a ceiling can be a tricky and tiresome task,” said Scott Richards, Senior Vice-President of Marketing, Behr Process Corporation.  “BEHR Premium Plus Ultra Ceiling Paint is a time-saving product that not only eliminates the need to purchase a separate primer, but is also specially formulated with stain-blocking qualities.  With the addition of this exciting new product, we look forward to another year of great success with our BEHR Premium Plus Ultra product line.”
With a unique formulation and viscosity, BEHR Premium Plus Ultra Ceiling Paint dries to touch in 30 minutes and can be re-coated in one hour.  The quick-dry feature translates to shorter time needed between coats and allows consumers to get their projects done quicker.  Since the product is designed to be spatter and drip resistant, it’s easier to apply with smooth consistency and delivers thick and even coverage.
BEHR Premium Plus Ultra Ceiling Paint offers a stain-blocking performance not currently found in conventional ceiling paints and is designed to resist the growth of mildew on the paint surface.  BEHR Premium Plus Ultra Ceiling Paint offers excellent stain-blocking action against water, ink, rust, nicotine, wood or tannin bleed and mildew stains.  It’s ideal for uncoated and properly prepared previously painted interior surfaces such as: drywall, acoustical tile, cured masonry, plaster, wallboard and other ceiling surfaces.
Traditionally, white is the most commonly used colour for ceilings as it is expansive, reflects light, and coordinates well with other colours.  BEHR Premium Plus Ultra Ceiling Paint can be used in Ultra Pure White® or tinted to light hues.  Colours on ceilings can transform the look and feel of a room.  Popular BEHR colours like Dried Plantain UL150-6 or Sand Motif UL160-8 can make a large room feel cozier while Coastal Beige UL160-11 and Ivory Lace UL160-12 can make a small room appear larger.
For the best results, Behr experts advise painters to start with the ceiling and work their way down when painting ceiling and walls in the same project.  They suggest using an extension pole to roll instead of working from a ladder as it's safer and easier to paint on the ground.  When painting a textured ceiling, use a thick-nap roller and work in smaller, three-by-three foot areas.  For a smooth drywall ceiling, use a roller with a smooth or shorter nap roller.
BEHR Premium Plus Ultra Stain-Blocking Ceiling Paint is offered in a flat sheen as the low reflective value helps reduce roller marks and the appearance of irregularities which would otherwise be more apparent if the ceiling paint is in a higher sheen.  The gallon size (3.79 L) covers approximately 250-400 square feet (23 – 37 m2) depending on the porosity and the texture of the surface. The product is currently available in all The Home Depot stores nationwide for $43.97/gallon.
